Do I understand from the above that to cause MinimServer to do a new scan of the music files on the NAS that I should click the 'refresh status' page? I clearly don't understand the difference between the 'refresh status' and the 'rescan' buttons. At the top of the page, it says something like "This page was last updated at 22:20:14 on " which indicates that the status information was correct at that time. This should be enough to make the app update its view of the library but in some cases it can help if you also clear the UPnP cache in the Naim app. This doesn't explain why you aren't seeing the changes in the Naim app. MinimWatch isn't essential but it is very useful. This provides real-time updates on the rescanning/restarting status and also enables you to configure various MinimServer settings. You might consider installing MinimWatch on another computer. Clicking this button will show the current status and update the "last updated" time. There is a button on the page named 'Refresh status'. It sounds like you are doing the MinimServer status web page to do the rescan. I'm an aeronautical engineer, only medium computer-savvy and not likely to understand if you launch off into a high-level computer-expert reply to my question. So what am I doing wrong? In replying, please use low-level wording. The Naim app doesn't see any changes to my library even though the Synology DSM file manager does correctly show the changes I made. When I click on the "Rescan" button, the status changes to "restarting" but nothing happens, even after leaving it alone for an hour or more. All I did was to rearrange the files using Windows Explorer. No problem there.īut I have re-arranged the files somewhat since then, because iTunes sent some of the files I ripped into some folders that are unnecessarily complicated and I wanted to simplify the folder hierarchy a little bit. When I first set up the Synology drive with MinimServer, it scanned just fine and the Naim app on my iPad showed all of the files just as they appeared on the NAS drive. The MinimServer is version 0.8.4 update 96. The Synology DSM version is 6.0.2-8451 update 7. With the help of the very knowledgeable salesman, I was able to get the system up and running, and it works great. I have a Synology DS216 NAS drive and a Naim network player.
